A Singaporean supervisor at one of the outlets said,

They’ll say that this is their style, so somehow we must follow them. But we’ll tell them ‘right now you are in Singapore, so you must follow the way we work’.

She went on to tell us of the arbitrariness associated with transfers within the company:

When they want to transfer some staff to another store, they will not tell you till the last minute: “I need you to go to that store.” They only give you about three days. Of course when they ask for your opinion what can I say? Only “Oh, why do you want to transfer me out? What have I done?.” Then, of course, they will say, “No it's just to let you learn more things from other branches.” Somehow, they’ve already made the decision. So what can I say; I have to go.
